Chacuey River – Ecotourism & Nature

Chacuey River Area

Unique riverside landscapes, hiking and the famous Taíno Petroglyphs National Monument on the banks of the Chacuey River.

The Chacuey River is one of Dajabon's natural treasures. Its banks host the Taíno Petroglyphs declared a National Monument by Law 452-69, engraved in rock by the indigenous people who inhabited Hispaniola before European arrival.

The natural surroundings of the Chacuey River also offer opportunities for hiking, bird watching and bathing in its cool waters. Access is recommended with a local guide, especially to reach the petroglyphs, and is preferable in the dry season.
